ROOT (Rural Opportunities Outreach and Transformation) implemented the Menstrual Health Awareness and Sanitary Napkin Distribution Program to improve the health, dignity, and well-being of women and adolescent girls from the Dalit community. The program aimed to address the challenges they face in accessing menstrual hygiene information, quality sanitary products, and essential healthcare support.

The initiative organized community-based awareness sessions where trained facilitators discussed menstrual health, personal hygiene, reproductive health, and the importance of maintaining proper cleanliness during menstruation. The sessions also helped break social stigma and myths surrounding menstruation, encouraging women and girls to speak openly about their health needs and seek appropriate care when necessary.
As part of the program, ROOT distributed sanitary napkins and hygiene materials to women and adolescent girls from disadvantaged households. Practical demonstrations on the safe use and proper disposal of sanitary products were also provided to promote healthy and environmentally responsible practices.
The program actively engaged mothers, community leaders, and local volunteers to create a supportive environment for menstrual health education. By improving knowledge, increasing access to hygiene products, and promoting healthy practices, ROOT contributed to protecting the health, confidence, and dignity of Dalit women and girls while encouraging greater inclusion and equality within their communities.
