ROOT worked closely with community leaders, volunteers, and local stakeholders to identify the most vulnerable households through community-based assessments. Priority was given to orphaned and disadvantaged children, widows, single mothers, elderly women, persons with disabilities, and families living below the poverty line.
The organization distributed food packages containing essential items such as rice, lentils, cooking oil, potatoes, salt, onions, and other basic necessities. These supplies helped families meet their immediate nutritional needs during a period when many had limited or no source of income.
Beyond food assistance, the program promoted awareness of COVID-19 prevention by encouraging proper hand hygiene, mask use, and physical distancing during distribution activities. Volunteers ensured that the distribution process was organized, respectful, and safe for all beneficiaries.
Through this initiative, ROOT strengthened community solidarity and demonstrated its commitment to protecting the dignity, health, and well-being of vulnerable people during one of the most challenging humanitarian crises in recent history. The program reflected ROOT’s mission of supporting underserved communities through compassionate, inclusive, and community-driven action.
